¿Y tu punto?

As we write our annotated bibliographies it is important to provide readers with a solid precise form of where our research is coming from. This week we are writing a reflection on the reading Annoying Ways People Use Sources by Kyle Stedman. Stedman’s overall writing style in the article is fun and easy to follow. His mentions of Spiderman and road rage made it easy to understand his points. Stedman’s advice comes from the way sources can be misled or useless in writing. He mentions how important it is to introduce the topic and quote before using the actual quote. The purpose of this so that readers are not confused or feel like they’re missing something. We want to avoid this because “...this often makes it sound as if the author has almost no authority at all “ (Stedman 248). The reader also needs to have a sense of credibility because if the audience doesn’t know where the writer is coming from or at least a sense of what is going on then they’ll move on and it becomes a waste of time for both parties. One tip of advice Stedman gives that I will be applying to my writing is reading my paper out loud to someone. I will most likely use my roommate (love ya Mo) because she has given me critical feedback in the past.
