Edmonton Regional Biology/Chemistry Teachers' Day

Edmonton Regional Biology/Chemistry Science Teachers’ Day is an annual event that invites up to 140 junior and senior high school teachers to the University of Alberta for an interesting day of learning. The subject is chosen based on engaging topics that are relevant in the current research climate. Local and national researchers are invited to share their current research, providing a joint opportunity for speakers to disseminate research progress and results and for teachers to engage with the research community from Universities and organizations across Canada.

The 2023 event titled, Water: Perils and Promise hosted four speakers from the University of Alberta. This year's event, took place on May 10, 2024 and was titled “Exploring the Boundaries of Science”. The gathering and theme of the day is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Maya Bhatia, who spoke so eloquently about her work in 2023. Dr. Bhatia lost her life during a tragic accident while conducting field research on a glacier in the high arctic in August 2023.

With permission from the speakers the presentations from the 2024 event have been made available here

We would like to thank the Kule Institute for Advanced Study for their generous support of the 2024 Science Teachers' Day.
