In my free time, I enjoy a variety of activities such as hiking, skiing, gardening, DIYing home projects, and researching my family's ancestry. I love to travel and have been to fifteen different countries! Spending quality time with my family, friends and partner, Stefan is invaluable to me. We often attend local festivals and hockey games, go for walks or bike rides, and play on Edmonton Sport and Social teams with our friends. I have also been a part of the Blauen Funken Karneval Group for the past seven years, which is a non-profit German dance group that represents Edmonton while competing across North America and Germany. My absolute favourite movie of all time is Across the Universe! However, I do love both of the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings series.
While I am new to graduate school, I am grateful for the opportunity to engage in a range of exciting research projects! Although my interests are broad, I am most impassioned about learning more about at-risk and marginalized youth, particularly those who struggle with school and have been in contact with the justice system. I often find myself wondering, how can we improve educational and judiciary experiences for youth who are so frequently stigmatized?
Meet Vinasa. She is a rainbow eclipse leopard gecko! Her name was decided when my partner did a poll and the class voted on her name!
