After completing graduate school, the writer decided to settle in Edmonton, where they are currently raising a family. The writer's children remind them of the importance of connection, unconditional positive regard, and validation. Much of their time is spent playing sports and socializing with friends and neighbors at the community league and school. In their free time, the writer enjoys daydreaming about the restoration of their 1912 home, taking walks in the ravine, listening to podcasts, and exploring new playgrounds and bike trails around the city.
As a registered psychologist, the writer specializes in school and clinical psychology, working with about a dozen schools to provide assessment and consultation services in a large urban school district. The writer also has a private practice, where they help families and young individuals explore ways to improve their quality of life through psychological assessment.
The writer continues to offer professional development and consultation services to build capacity in understanding and meeting the needs of individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Their values as a psychologist are reflected in their approach to psychological assessment, as they strive to see individuals for who they are and not who others want them to be. The writer hopes that their clients feel heard and seen throughout the assessment and consultation process.
