The goal of all my research and clinical work is to find ways to help people flourish. I am especially interested in therapeutic assessment and in exploring creative, strengths-based approaches to fostering healthy outcomes for youth facing personal and social barriers to their success. Lately, this has led me to focus primarily on how we conceptualize mental health and what it means to be mentally 'healthy.'
Although I am approaching the end of my PhD program now, my journey to grad school has not been linear! Prior to starting my Master’s, I spent a number of years backpacking around the world. My adventures have included exploring rural Vietnam by motorbike, mountain climbing in New Zealand, running with the bulls in Spain, and fishing for piranhas in the Bolivian Amazon. When I'm closer to home, I'm happiest spending time with my family and friends, running in the river valley with my dog, catching an Oilers or Blue Jays game, or brushing up on my Spanish for my next adventure.
