My name is Mrs. Shannon Williams, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! This is my 3rd year at the Villages Charter School, and my 34th year as a classroom teacher. I have previously taught in Tennessee and in Georgia.
I have been married for over 33 years. I have an amazing husband, John, and our son, Ethan! Ethan is currently in nursing school at Lake-Sumter College. We have an adorable cat named Holly. We love to travel.
We are huge Disney fans. Disney World and the beautiful beaches are the main reasons we chose to make Florida our home. We also love riding our bicycles, playing Pickleball, and swimming.
Friendly Reminders
Please read with your child each night. This time with them is invaluable. This can look many different ways. Pick a fun place to read. They can read to you; you can take turns reading, or even choose a book that you can read to them. They may surprise you and want to read it to you.
Library Books, Planners, and Take-Home Folders.
Please ensure that your child brings his or her library books to school each day. The planners will be used each day. The students' behavior and homework (if assigned) will be documented there. Typically, we write in our planners on Monday, so you have the week to look at it with your child. It is a great place for a quick note. Please initial your child's planner each night. Reading logs, math homework, and important notes will be placed in your child's take-home folder.
Snacks:
We will have time for a snack each day. Please provide your child with a healthy snack. Fruit, veggies, cheese and crackers, or yogurt are great examples.
Water Bottles
Please send in a water bottle with your child each day. Water bottles should have plain water only.
Classroom Wishlist:
Not required, but you can earn PI time with receipts sent in. We appreciate anything you can send in.
Suggested items:
Extra snacks, water bottle stickers, treasure box items (bouncy balls, squishies, bubbles, water bottle stickers, etc.)
Prodigy Math: sign up for a free Prodigy parent account to follow your child's learning progress.
