Some helpful tips as we start the year:
Please check your child's Take Home Folder every night and take out papers that are in the "Keep at Home" side. If they need to be returned back to school, it goes in the "Return to School" side ready to turn in.
Please also check your child's agenda each night for written assignments or notes once they bring the agenda home.
You are able to send in a healthy snack for your child to eat in class every day.
It is also recommended to send your child with a water bottle each day.
Reading/Phonics:
Soon students will start bringing home UFLI study guides. You can use these guides to practice the skills being taught in class.
Reading at home with your child each night for 10-15 minutes is a helpful practice to advance your child's grow in reading comprehension and vocabulary skills.
We are currently focusing on central idea and relevant details along with how text features contribute to the meaning of the text.
Math:
It is beneficial for your child to be practicing addition and subtraction fact fluency at home.
Students are currently working on fluently adding and subtracting within 20. They are also practicing adding 10 more and 100 more and subtracting 10 less and 100 less.
Science:
Students are currently learning about rocks and minerals. Next, the class will explore more about weather.
Social Studies:
Students are learning about Citizenship.
Thank you for all you do to support your child at school. Please reach out if you have any questions.
