Trinity Lutheran School offers a faith based academic oriented preschool program for children ages 3 and 4. We offer a choice of 3 or 5 day programs. Our hours are from 8:30 am to 11:15 am. We have an additional classroom aide to assist the teacher. Class size is limited to 15. For more information, please contact the school.
Our Kindergarten curriculum contains Religion, Reading, Phonics (Jolly Phonics Program), Mathematics (Saxon with a hands-on manipulatives emphasis), Science, and Social Studies. Students are introduced to basics in all academic areas with an emphasis on active learning guided by the teacher. Students are assessed periodically for progress towards established goals. Title I assistance is available for struggling students in the areas of letter recognition, mathematical reasoning, articulation, and language processing. Class size is limited to 20.
1st - 8th Grade
Each of other classes is a dual grade classroom with one teacher. For example, 1st and 2nd grade students work together; 3rd and 4th grade students work together; 5th and 6th grade students are in one room, and 7th and 8th grade students work together in one room. In the lower grades, the curriculum and instruction time alternates for each grade, providing appropriate instruction and content for each grade level in Reading, English, and Mathematics. In the other grades and classrooms, the curriculum is rotated from one year to another with full class instruction as appropriate. We utilize the Shurley English Curriculum for all grades, 1 through 8. This has been an excellent program with high yields on academic testing. Our 5th through 8th grade students utilize the Sadlier Vocabulary Workshop curriculum as their Spelling and Vocabulary component. This also has led to great improvements on academic testing and better writing ability. Our Mathematics program is comprised of both Saxon and Glencoe. By 8th grade, students are allowed to test into a higher level Algebra 1 program as fits their individual abilities.
