That Feeling

Have you ever gotten that feeling? 

The feeling that you suddenly can’t breathe

Your heart starts to race

You feel hot and you start to get all red

Like butterflies are in your stomach

And you just can’t get rid of them?

It’s a feeling that you get when you think of or look at someone that you love

You may not realize it

You may accept it

Or you may push it down, bottle it up

But that feeling won’t go away

It’ll just simmer until you can’t hold it in anymore or you feel sick to your stomach 

That is the feeling of love

Whether it feels amazing or not

Everybody gets it

Sometimes it takes a while

Sometimes it happens almost immediately 

You can’t help but think of that person

You can’t help but talk about them

You blush and get butterflies every time they’re around

Your pupils dilate 

You have the look of love when you see them

The look that is so distinct yet so hidden at the same time

When they’re around, it feels like nothing else matters, like they’re the only person around

It’s like they take center stage in your eyes and you can’t look away because of how captivated you are

They could be cute, or hot, or kind, or anything 

To some, it may be a horrid choice

But to you, they’re your everything

They make you happy

Or smile or laugh

They’ll almost always be able to cheer you up

Even when they don’t even realize it

When you get that feeling; you’ll know

It will feel like you would give your heart to them 

on a silver platter 

in the blink of an eye 

if they had asked

That is the feeling of love
