The Snowpocalypse 

It was a freezing and cloudy night in Texas. This meant that it was one of the rare occasions when snow fell. It did not just snow. People woke up to the shock of seeing everything completely covered in thick snow. This was the Texas Snowpocalypse of 2021. This was unexpected. A fluffy and white blanket, the snow caused the sun's light to blind anyone who looked at it (Opener).  The cold brought issues with multiple things. People lost water. People lost power. Fortunately, our family only lost water for the long week. However, the week was still very difficult. We struggled to get water, so we ended up recycling snow in order to get water, not for drinking, and thankfully, my mother saved enough water right before we lost it. On the brighter side, I was glad to see school was canceled, so I spent my time playing video games and enjoying my free time. I also had lots of snow to play with, which I hadn’t experienced much of, living in Texas. However, playing in the snow would always frighten my mom because she was worried my brother and I would get hurt. This one week in Texas was difficult and had lots of hardships that we had to get through. It brought us lots of unforgettable moments.

The cold would cause a feeling of sickness and dread to those who experience it. The cool air would hurt the throats of those who went outside, a burning and painful sensation. Freezing snow would cause cold burns to every child who wished to play with it. Some people would stay locked in their homes all day, not wanting to feel the cold. Snow would cause power outages, shutting down all virtual learning at the time because we were still on lockdown. Perhaps the worst of all that people had to deal with, however, was the loss of water. It was challenging not being able to take a shower or to drink some tap water. It was a dreadful time for all of Texas. However, we eventually got through it, and it brought lots of unforgettable moments.

While the storm may not have been the most difficult weather event, it most definitely was not easy. With the combination of losing power and water and not being able to leave your house, it proved to be a difficult challenge. My brother and I were stuck at home, bored all day, and my mother and father were trying to figure out how to get water and what we could eat. Some who did not experience it may feel that it was not very difficult because we were able to stay, where we were sipping rich and creamy hot chocolate and smelling pumpkin spice through our air freshener, and our property was not damaged by the mounds of snow. But with the biting cold, blinding snow, the dark homes, and the sound of crunching snow, people had to stay strong to get through it. The storm, a freezing and difficult storm, may not have been the most difficult, but it definitely was not the easiest.

The storm definitely was not easy. With the cold that burned the skin of everyone who stepped outside, the loss of water and power, and the fluffy snow that would cause you to sink further, the storm was a challenge. The snowpocalypse, while challenging, brought lots of unforgettable moments to the people who were affected by it. The snow brought us together as if it were a family during Christmas dinner.
