Wings
In this vast world
with much to explore,
we had the misfortune
of being born without wings.
Maybe if we were,
the wind would lift us
into the sky’s safe embrace.
The clouds would be our best friends
and the sun would greet us every day,
the moon would be ours at night
and guide us in the dark.
Mountaintops would call to us,
seas would sing their songs.
We would soar overhead,
skies in our grasps,
and we would dream of the days
the oceans too would be ours.
