A Princess Can Never Truly Cry
A princess can never truly cry
Nothing but a damsel in distress waiting for her prince
She could never anxiously bite her nails, or pull at her hair
Perfect on the outside, broken on the inside
What if she spoke out and told the world how she felt?
How every night she would pace and think for hours
Her thoughts racing too fast for her to grasp any of them
She must always have a prince by her side
No matter how much she loved the last, she must move
on to the next
Loneliness is failure, beauty is success, and silence is best
How does she lead without true feelings, without speaking out
for the fearful?
How can she hold the weight of her life
without breaking down?
The stress, the anxiety, the voice in her head telling her to give up
Her mind, with a dual personality, pushing people away
but asking for them in a time of need
What human can hold the weight of the world on top
of a tiara with perfect posture?
Her failures constantly overshadow her accomplishments
What she enjoys is no longer a priority, she must do her duty
and give up her happiness
With her feelings bottled, her head held high, and a smile on her face
she does the waltz
Beautifully, gracefully she gives into her thoughts and loses herself
No one will pull her out of this state
she stays in her glass jar, watching the world
pass her by
She never had the gift of truly living
She would watch as the balls went on and she faded from public view
until she was forgotten
One day, she hoped, there would be someone
to open the jar.
