Charanga Music

At Seal Primary Academy, we teach a high quality music education through an online programme called Charanga. We support all of our children to develop a love of music, while also promoting the acquisition of personal attributes such as self assurance and creativity.  This scheme of work has been developed to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum, through a practical, exploratory and child-led approach to musical learning.

Charanga utilises interrelated dimensions of music to encourage the development of musical skills through: listening and appraising, differing musical activities (including creating and exploring) and performing. The units of work enable children to understand musical concepts through a repetition-based approach to learning. Learning about the same musical concept through different musical activities enables a more secure, deeper learning and mastery of musical skills.
