Operation Encompass

The school is part of Operation Encompass, an operation that is run with local schools and the Police.

Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting to schools of any domestic abuse incidents that occur in which a child was present, ordinarily resides at the incident location or with an involved party. We know that children can be significantly affected through witnessing or being exposed to domestic abuse and this operation will allow us to better support our pupils and their families.

A nominated member of staff, known as a Key Adult, will be trained to support following a referral.   At OVPA our Key Adult is Mrs Gray.    The Key Adult will be able to use information that has been shared, in confidence, to ensure that the right support is available should it be required by a child and their family.

We are keen to offer the best support available to our pupils and we believe this is extremely beneficial for all those involved.

Safer Schools

The Safer Schools App helps to educate, empower and protect children and those charged with helping to keep them safe as they navigate the world of technology and social media.

Download the ‘Safer Schools’ app from your app store. You will then need a PIN number or QR code to access the resources.  These are available below and there are different codes for children and parents.

Through the app, parents and carers have access to information on the popular social media platforms used by their children and their friends. You are also provided with insight on critical issues such as bullying, sexting, and gaming and are given easy-to-follow advice on how they can make their homes and the devices they give their children safer.

Parents can build their level of confidence by completing Parental Digital Proficiency tests in the App.
