Sporting Experiences:
Students will engage in training sessions in the lead up tot he tour culminating in a set of fixtures against local opposition in and around Cape Town. We have long standing relationships with President's High School on the outskirts of the city and visit friends each time we tour.
Cultural Experiences:
Touring students will take in the rich and diverse culture that South Africa has to offer, learning about it's troubled past and how the country is moving forward in a positive way. Students will see the cell where Nelson Mandela was held on Robben Island, visit the spectacular sights of table Mountain and the Western Cape coastline, Stellenbosch University and have a guided tour around the Langa Township where some of the poorest families in the city live. The tour is rounded off staying at a 5* Safari Game resort where students will go on 4 safari drives hoping to spot the 'Big 5'.
Charitable Experiences:
For 6 years we have had a very close relationship with our tour charity link, Pebbles Project. They do fantastic work providing healthcare, education and opportunities for children living on the Wine Farms in and around the Western Cape. Since 2015 Mountbatten Students have raised over £12,000 to help provide uniform, equipment and an after school sports programme within the area. Some students have worked individually with the charity and sponsored children who benefit from the charity. Tourists engage fully with the charity cause and whilst on tour visit the charity hub to volunteer and meet the children they are raising money for.
The Tour project is a very special and something students are very proud of. Students will receive their own tour tie and tourist number which will be unique to them and they will hold for ever. D.McFaull will always be 'Tourist number 1'. Tour captains will be chosen and awarded with their honours before addressing their squads in the 'captains speech'.
