On the 20 January 2020 we took twenty of our High Performance Athletes to Bath University.
We have recently set up a network link with the university as part of their Sport Science in Action Scheme.
During our visit to the university we spend the morning using some of the fantastic facilities they have to offer in their Sports Hub. All students took part in a range of field tests including sprint tests, 5-0-5 agility tests, sit and reach & hand grip test. Students then had the opportunity to look at the fantastic Sport Science Laboratories the university had to offer and then took part in a range of lab tests. These include leg press, bench press and VO2 max test.
After the morning of testing students were then given a guided tour around the university campus and saw first hand the state of the art facilities Bath University have to offer including an Olympic sized swimming pool, High performance gyms, an outdoor 400m athletics track. three large sports halls, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and even a bobsleigh start track.
The students then spent the rest of the afternoon finding out information about the degrees and courses that are on offer at Bath University including the various pathways into sporting careers.
On our return to school students were then given individual plans to work on targeted weaknesses that will help them develop certain aspects of their performance specific to their individual sports.
We will hopefully returning to bath University in the Autumn term to retest our High Performance students to see whether improvements have been made.
