Second Year
Call Nights
You have lots of backup!
You can always call your chief or the attending who is on at night.
If you have a clinical question during the week (Sunday through Thursday night) the attending is first call
Over the weekend, the chief is first call.
Contact the attending with the following:
Admissions or transfers to the ICU (ICU attending)
Any procedures that need to be done on a patient. If the procedure is emergent and you need to get it done and don’t have time to call, take care of the patient first with help from whomever is present in the hospital and then call
Admissions to Labor and delivery. After contacting the FMS attending, you can come up with a plan for when the attending would like to be notified again
Contact the ICU attending to debrief all rapid responses you are lead on
All patients seen in OB triage need to be staffed with the FMS attending before they are discharged. Even the easy labor checks.
Finally, please feel free to contact your attending whenever you have questions in any situation. We are all here to answer your questions and help however we can!
