OMT Billing

We are now having all DO residents send their OMT clinic notes to their preceptor of the half-day for co-signature regardless if MD or DO. Nothing will change as far as the residents billing for OMT as we have been told by the SJH admin that MD preceptors can sign off on residents who are billing for OMT services even if that preceptor does not perform OMT. Medicare rules still apply for any procedure that a resident performs (i.e. the Attending must be present for the "key or critical portions of the procedure").

Residents - if you have a Medicare patient coming in for OMT please let your preceptor know ahead of time and come up with a plan for when they will come in to observe you.

Attendings - please see the attached documents for tips on billing / coding - we will try to get this on the clinic binder soon.
