Shooting experimental shoots
NB: READ THIS "WHAT MAKES A GOOD PHOTOGRAPH" GUIDE AS YOU PLAN YOUR SHOOTS: WHAT MAKES A GOOD PHOTOGRAPH?
1 Google slide
Note down 4 shoot ideas based on your chosen theme. Ideas may be in the form of written notes, artist examples and/or thumbnail sketches.
For each idea, you should record the following:
. Main subject and other visual elements (props, costumes, background)
. Concept, meaning or mood
. Light conditions
. Composition
. Camera controls (aperture, shutter speed, focus etc..)
. Other photographic techniques and compositional conventions.
REMEMBER – YOU ARE NOT AIMING TO CREATE PERFECT IMAGES AT THIS STAGE. YOUR AIM IS TO GATHER A RANGE OF INFORMATION / IDEAS ABOUT YOUR THEME.
Gather materials/subject matter. List the things you will need for your photo shoot. For example: do you need to scan photocopy images or objects, make drawings, collect pictures/diagrams from books, make a construction, collect objects, fabrics, costumes, find a suitable setting/ model etc..
