INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY

L2 YEAR PLANNER 2023

In Level 2, Photography students learn how to use a DSLR camera and photographic methods and techniques. Students use images and learn how to manipulate these through both digital and physical photographic processes. Students work on written research assignments on photographic professionals to gain an understanding of traditional and contemporary methods and ideas in photography.

Students study these NCEA standards:

2.2 Use drawing methods to apply knowledge of conventions appropriate to photography.

2.3 Develop ideas in a related series of drawings appropriate to established photography practice

2.4 Produce a systematic body of work that shows understanding of art making conventions and ideas within photography.

Potential credits available = 20 (8 Internal, 12 External)

Students are expected to have a DSLR camera at Year 12 to do this subject.
