Songs Inspired by Books
With a guitar, a banjo, and a deep love for storytelling, Jaspar Lepak performs a collection of original songs inspired by books, including On Writing by Stephen King, Like A Mother by Angela Garbes, White Teeth by Zadie Smith, The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor and more! Jaspar has been an avid reader since she was a kid and loves combining music with her love for books. She has an MFA in Creative Writing and has released nine albums of original material. She has also been commissioned twice to write theme songs for best-selling novelist JoAnn Ross who saw Jaspar perform at the Olympia Farmers Market and inspired JoAnn to make one of her heroines a songwriter (Tori in the book Finn).

Raising Women’s Voices
Jaspar Lepak is a folk/Americana songwriter whose remarkable gift for melody is only surpassed by her poetry. Driven by a desire to raise women’s voices, this program is a collection of original songs that celebrate female empowerment and promote gender equality. Topics include identity, agency, definitions of worth and success, reproductive rights, pregnancy, childbirth, caregiving and self-care.
Age Range: High School, Adults
