Program Description
Whether you want to write down your memories for family members and friends or hope to publish a book-length memoir, try your hand at writing exercises to spark your memory and tell your (hi)story!
Rachael Hanel lives and writes just outside of Mankato, Minnesota. She is a former newspaper reporter and copy editor and teaches Mass Media at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She is the author of more than 20 nonfiction books for children. We'll Be the Last Ones to Let You Down: Memoir of a Gravedigger's Daughter, is her first book for adults. Rachael holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications and history and a master’s degree in history, both from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She earned a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University.
Duration: 2 hours
Target Audience: 18+
Min/Max Number of Participants: 4 min; 12 max
Performer Needs: Round tables are preferable. If a projector is available, that’s great but if not I could use a white board or paper on an easel with markers. Participants should each be provided a pen/pencil and paper.
Set-up and Take-down Time: 15 min each
Cost for 2025: $400 per presentation
