Eugene Hu is a first-year MA student in Applied Linguistics at Teachers College, Columbia University. His research pertains to generative AI and its role in second language writing. Specifically, he is interested in the effectiveness of personal, real-time feedback provided by AI chatbots to EFL+ESL writers and the ability for such feedback to foster collaborative writing environments.
Eugene holds a bachelor's degree in Linguistics from NYU and a master's degree in Media Studies from USC. He conducted research on indignant responses to slurs on social media during his time at NYU and research on dialects in American cartoons in the 1920s and 30s during his time at USC.
