Joel Tillman is a first-year EdM student of Applied Linguistics, in the Language Use Track at Teachers College. He is interested in sociolinguistics, conversational interactions, and looking at language as a social construct. In the past, he has worked to promote the study of LGBTQ+ linguistics, and minority and endangered languages. The latter was the topic of his MA thesis dissertation from the University of Hong Kong. Carrying six years of full-time proofreading experience under his belt, he hopes to apply technology as a tool for looking at large data corpora, and streamlining services that would take humans a long time. 

Career Goals: Moving forward in his career, he wants to earn his doctorate, and ultimately leverage his skills as an editor, writer, communicator, and educator.
