Kelly Talavera is pursuing an Ed.M. in Applied Linguistics. Her professional experience is teaching ESL writing and Python programming at the college level, developing NLP applications for text classification and online safety, and leading administrative operations at a tech startup focused on language filtering. Kelly’s research interests are task-based language teaching (TBLT) and intelligent tutoring systems, the pedagogical uses of chatbots and intelligent agents in educational training, gamified and multimodal approaches in speech-language pathology and ESL/EFL learning, using AI to study linguistic markers of cognitive decline (e.g., dementia) and bilingual speech disorders, and the influence of AI in shaping teachers' decision making abilities.
