TangiTech Badge Program

Tech Badges are mini milestone awards that teachers can earn when they learn helpful skills and programs that can be used with their students in the classroom.

There are two types of badges.

1. TangiTech Achievement Badges are earned by registering and completing Technology Online Bitty classes and any Technology face to face classes that are offered on the Master Calendar. All you do is sign up, complete all assignments in the class and earn a badge for that class. The online bitty courses usually begin on the 1st day of the month and end on the last day of the month. You have an entire month to complete the class. Work at your own pace. Once you complete the class, a badge will be sent to you to display on your board. These classes earn you 2 Tech Points. Face to Face technology PD classes usually take place at the Technology Center and your badge will be issued to you at the end of the class. Face to face classes earn you Tech Points as well.

2. My Achievement Badges are earned from using digital tools in the classroom or completing classes through specific vendors. (Google, Pear Deck, GoGuardian, Flipgrid, just to name a few) These badges are monitored by those vendors. As you use their digital online tool, you unlock a badge to display on your My Achievement Board. These particular vendors monitor their digital tool being used and send the badge earned directly to your email for you to print out. Make sure you check Spam if you are waiting for badges from a specific online digital tool vendor. Sometimes they go to that folder.

You will display your badges outside your classroom for all to see! Please display them on your door or hanging from your classroom number. Make a special area for your Badge Achievement Board. Decorate it to show your personality or just hang the board just like it is. Show your peers which badges you have earned.

The Technology Department will send you a board, a clear sheet protector, and the badges as they are earned. You will receive two boards. The TangiTech Achievement Board is the one you will add badges to that you have earned from Online Bitty Classes. The My Achievement Board is the one you will add badges to that you have earned from using online digital tools, or completed classes through specific vendors. Online Digital tools such as Google, Pear Deck, GoGuardian, and many others allow you to earn badges directly from them by using their online digital tool in your classroom with your students or completing a class through them. These badges are usually emailed directly to you for you to print out. Now you have a place to display them. These badges from specific vendors will be placed on the My Achievement Board. (Note: Sometimes these emails go to your spam. The badges I earned from Pear Deck went to spam. Make sure you check Spam if you are waiting for badges from a specific online digital tool vendor.

The first badge you earn will come with the board and the clear sheet protector along with instructions of what to do. After that, you will just receive badges until your first board is filled.

No worries! Once either board is filled up, take a picture of the board hanging outside your classroom door, email the picture to Colette Taillon and another board will be sent to you to add more badges to. It's that easy!

Of course there are always incentives to be a continuous learner. Here are just a few.

• Your accomplishment is recognized by other teachers and staff

• I’m sure the students notice these as well! (FYI, I’m also a big fan of printing badges for students. They can be displayed on a bulletin board, the cover of their notebook, or locker! Also, think BragTags to wear on their lanyards)

• Teachers can seek your help on a program for which you have a badge

• Teachers begin to collaborate and increase motivation among their colleagues to use technology in the classroom

• Filling up your My Achievement Board will earn you 5 extra Tech Points. You will send me, Colette Taillon, a picture of your completed board. I will issue you another My Achievement board and add 5 Tech Points to your account. NOTE: Only the MY ACHIEVEMENT Badge Board will earn you an extra 5 Tech Points. You will already be receiving Tech Points for the Tangi Tech Achievement Bitty Classes and Face to Face Classes once they are completed.
