Enrollment
Candidate enrollment occurs each August and early September. The Program Manager first requests a roster of all potential SUHSD Induction Candidates from Human Resources. Then, the PM reaches out to potential Induction Candidates via email. Teachers may also email the Program Manager for information regarding Induction. Candidates must complete an Enrollment form in order to indicate their interest and commitment.
In order to enroll in the SUHSD Teacher Induction Program, prospective Candidates must:
possess either a Preliminary or Level I Education Specialist or Single-Subject Credential in good standing
be currently employed by SUHSD in a temporary or probationary teaching contract (not a substitute)
have a teaching assignment consistent with the teaching credential that the candidate would like to clear
work with a core group of students throughout the school year
Please review the Candidate Agreement that all Candidates must sign upon acceptance into the program.
Program Requirements
Induction Candidates must complete the following coursework and attendance requirements annually to earn a one-year verification letter. Completion of two years of the Teacher Induction Program will earn the candidate their recommendation to the CTC for a Clear Teaching Credential.
CSTP Self-Assessments:
Beginning-of-the-Year CSTP Self-Assessment to guide goals and monitor progress
End-of-the-Year CSTP Self-Assessment to prompt reflection and gauge success
Individual Learning Plan:
Contextual information about their student population, site, and teaching assignment
2 cycles of inquiry, including
CSTP Self-Assessment
CSTP Focus
Professional Growth Goal
Professional Learning (4 entries)
Action and Analysis (5 entries)
Reflection
“Just-in-Time” Support (4 entries)
Mentor Signature
Mentor Support:
meet with their mentor for no less than one hour per week of support/coaching for a minimum of at least 30 hours per year
Observations:
Quarter 2 and Quarter 3 Candidate Observations of Colleagues using the Candidate Observation Form - both noted in the Professional Learning section of the respective ILP inquiry cycles.
Quarter 2 and Quarter 3 Mentor Observations of Candidates - participation in Part 1 and Part 3 of the Mentor Observation Form.
Professional Learning:
attend the Orientation
attend at least two of the three quarterly professional development meetings
attend and present at the Colloquium
create a slide deck and in-person presentation that follows the Colloquium Assignment instructions
Triad Meetings:
attend and participate in a meeting during Quarter 1 and Quarter 3 with your Site Administrator and Induction Mentor
We ask that all Induction Candidates communicate with the Induction Team if any extenuating circumstances occur that prevent the Candidate from meeting the requirements by each deadline.
