Candidate and Mentor Pairing

Candidate and Mentor Pairing Policy

The SUHSD Teacher Induction Program must identify and assign a mentor to each participating teacher within the first 30 days of the participant’s enrollment in the program, matching the mentor and participating teacher according to the credentials held, grade level, and/or subject area, as appropriate to the participant’s employment. We also aim to pair candidates and mentors by proximity as much as possible. Additionally, we make every attempt to honor both candidate and mentor requests, though we cannot guarantee specific pairings.

Candidate and Mentor Pairing Appeal

As stated in the Sweetwater Education Association Teacher Contract in Article 25.7:

When necessary, the Induction Program Manager will negotiate with candidates and mentors to revise matches on an ongoing basis. Changes in mentor/candidate matches will be discussed by all concerned and whenever possible decisions will be derived from consensus. The Joint Governance Panel will meet with the Induction Program Manager to discuss and resolve any appeal within one month of its submission.
