Happy Monday! I miss you so much.

Learning Target: I can write about cause and effect using a non-fiction story.

  • Write 3 facts from the story using my own words (cause)

  • Explain why each fact is important for me (effect) using the words:

If, so, then, therefore, because, cause

Terrific Tuesday!

Learning Target: I can read my own writing like a good story (use writing from Monday's assignment).

  • Reread my story to make sure everything sounds right

  • Find places to stop and take a breath

  • Practice reading like I talk to a friend

Directions:

1. Practice reading your story 3 times to a brother, sister, or family member.

2. Video tape yourself reading your story. Pretend like you are reading your story like Ms. Klatt.

3. When you are done practicing, upload a video of reading 2-3 sentences from your writing onto Flipgrid!

Wacky Wednesday

Learning Target: I can make sure everything sounds right when I read.

  • Listen to myself

  • Stop if I hear something wrong

  • Go back and try again

Directions: Read a non-fiction or fiction book to enjoy! Listen to yourself as you read to check and make sure what you are reading sounds right! This is a strategy all phenomenal readers use! :)

Thoughtful Thursday!

Learning Target: I can write about my feelings using cause (why something happens) and effect (what happens).

  • Think of a negative feeling you have had recently

  • Write where that feeling came from (friend, school, brother, sister, yourself)

  • Use I feel _________ (effect) when _____________(cause) to write about your negative feeling and where it comes from

Directions:

  1. Create a list of negative emotions you have felt recently

  2. Create two boxes and an arrow to show cause and effect of the feeling and where the feeling comes from

  3. Write one or more sentences using I feel ____________ when __________.

  4. Use your best spelling. If you can spell see, you can spell feel.

  5. Want a challenge today? Practice spelling the sight word when without looking! Write 4-5 sentences about your feelings and right a solution for your negative feelings. For example, I feel _______ when ________. I would like to _______________ (talk to a friend, play outside) to stop this negative feeling.

Happy Friday!

Learning Target: I can write about a story.

  • Think about the plot

  • Connect to the character in the story

  • Explain the similarities and differences you share with the main character

Directions: Listen to the read aloud and after, respond to the question: Have you ever felt like the main character? Explain a situation when your words erupted (or shot out of your mouth) like a volcano. If you can't think of one, explain a situation when someone else's words erupted like a volcano.

  1. Write 5 sentences

  2. Include where the situation took place

  3. Include who was with you during the situation

  4. Include why your words erupted
