I wanted to make a strip of 12 distinct sections for my Zentangle design, fading from brighter to darker patterns. The portions had to gradually become darker or more complicated as they went on.  I almost thought like the rectangles were apartment rooms and as the room windows went on each room was different in its own way.  

I used a sharpie pen for all but the hand drawing, which I used a graphite pencil for. 

I sketched a long, narrow rectangle and added lines of separation at the start of my Zentangle drawing. I then filled in this area with a variety of darker-toned patterns.
