Linoleum Prints

Artist Statement: Initially, I intended to create a mountain-like appearance on my block, but while I was sketching out the design, the mountains on the side began to merge and get darker which I thought looked cool. In order to provide additional black and white detail due to the lack of black space, I placed a sun in the rear.

I picked black, green, and blue ink for the multicolored prints since they more closely matched parts of the darkness during this project.  Other than that, I used a lot of the same supplies. To carve the more complex and minute lines, I alternated between blades, but for the center of the mountains, I mostly utilized larger blades.

This was a really cool art unit and I think this project made my carving and ink skills improve so that I can apply them to other units like this.
