Maine Painting

Acrylic paint and paint markers on canvas.

The major inspiration for this piece was the concept of Maine's outline set against a colorful background to make it stand out.  I picked a colorful background because I wanted Maine to stand out as the only color that was distinct from the others in the background.

I knew I wanted to utilize paint for this last project since I like the way paint looks on canvas and it was one of my favorite units to complete. I also had a general notion of what I wanted to achieve, and I decided that painting would be the best medium for realizing my goals.

I began this piece of art by cutting down a large sheet of white canvas paper due to its size. After opting to make the lines thick, I used the paintbrush to create the colors. I then started drawing the outline of Maine. To make sure the outline was accurate, I needed to obtain some references online, then I could begin to create it.
