Artist Statement:

For my final piece, I created a landscape of a road dividing a more realistic drawing with a more abstract and colorful drawing. In this piece, and in my first piece which is different zoomed-in views of a show drawing I made in pure contour,  I wanted to make sure that I made accurate, pure lines. With my final piece, I used this to create the base for my drawing. I hoped to create a piece that highlights color and fully uses the space.

For my sketches of different shoe zooms, I used a graphite pencil. I used this so I could keep the sketch light at first and then go over it. For my final piece, I used markers, watercolor, acrylic paint, and Sharpie on Bristol board. Firstly, I used the Bristol board because it works well with different types of materials, and I used a lot of different materials in my piece. I used markers for the bottom half of my drawing, and I chose to use them because the colors are bright and stick out, which was the desired effect I had for the piece. I used watercolor for the top half of the painting to create a more realistic and less cartoony look. I used acrylic paint for the clouds so that they were bright and didn't mix with the watercolor. Finally, I used the Sharpie to outline my zoomed shoe, and I used a thinner one for the lines in the bottom half of my drawing.

For my final artwork, I mainly used my imagination. Mainly, I wanted to highlight color in my piece. I wanted to convey my ideas through my use of color. That was the main inspiration behind the piece. I used duller colors on the top with a more realistic look because I wanted them to contrast with the bright colors and abstract look in the bottom half of the piece. I wanted the top to represent life and the bottom to represent imagination, and show that imagination makes life less dull. Overall, this is what I hoped to show through the piece.
