Goals

Football Season Goals

A specific goal I have for this season and especially the off season is to get a stronger upper body, even more specifically, I want to increase my bench reps and personal record. So far my maximum weight I can bench is only 115 lbs. This low number is primarily because I started football freshman year and didn't lift at all before that. This isn't very good if I want to be able to break blocks or drive other players who can be 200 lbs or more. This is also my goal because I have a bench at home where I can get better everyday as long as I stay dedicated. I can achieve my goal by consistently benching everyday, and eating right by having protein and staying away from foods that will make me full with no nutritional help to my body like junk food and sodas. My goal will be to get at least to my current body weight, around 170 lbs. This will put me in a good position to get even stronger during the next season and will improve my performance on the field.

Season Evaluation

This season I improved tremendously compared to last year. Last year I barely saw the field, but with hard work over the summer and during the off season I improved a lot and now I see the field multiple times throughout the game whether it is very close or a blowout.

This year mentally, football has made me a more resilient and dedicated person compared to how I was before the season. This was mostly due to the sprints and conditioning at the end of practice after we are all tired from all the drills and scrimmages before we sprinted. This taught me resilience and dedication because even if you are tired after a long day, practice, or game, you have to keep giving it your all no matter the circumstances. Off the field this has helped me to get homework done, giving me a better work ethic and making me a generally better student in and out of the classroom.

This season I have come closer to completing my goal. I can definitely bench more and this is shown by my newfound upper body strength. I can see this directly through my bench max going up, and also I can do more push-ups, pull-ups, and other demanding exercises. I can also feel more muscle when I flex my chest, triceps, and biceps then I did, before I could barely feel these muscles under my skin but now they are better defined.

Leadership in football is complicated. There are many different types of leaders, this includes the quarterback who calls the plays in the huddle, the center on the line who calls the huddle after a chaotic play, the linebacker who calls the defensive coverage seconds before a play, and other forms of leadership around the field. Throughout the season I have helped to lead and command our second or third string line. I mostly play with them at the end of the games because I play defensive line throughout the game but I still need to practice being on offense. Before the play I help to call double team blocks, blocking assignments, and which way we need to move in order to make a good play. I was never elected or appointed to this role and it is a casual form of leadership but it has helped us to achieve first downs and score points when if I didn't make these calls on the line it would have been a mess and we would have lost yards. Next year I plan to be even more of a leader and a reliable friend you can count on during a game and practice.

Wrestling Season Goals

My goal for this wrestling season is to have an over 50% win rate in my matches throughout the entire season. Currently, I have a 80% win ratio with winning 8 matches and losing 2 matches as of the beginning of January 2022. This is my goal because it will show if I am learning more and getting better throughout the season depending on how much I can win against my competition throughout the year as everyone gets better and more experienced. I am excited to achieve this goal and I am dedicated to win more matches and this is a good way to measure how I improve throughout the season.

Season Evaluation

Throughout the season, I have consistently gotten better and better and become more confident in my abilities on and off the mat. I have accomplished my goal, ending my season with the record 8 wins and 3 losses, 10-3. My goal for next season is too maintain this win rate and continue to get better and get medals in harder and more challenging tournaments and competitions.

Wrestling has improved my endurance and stamina through stringent practices and drills that ultimately result in sprinting up and down the mats. This helped me physically so that when I wrestle my opponent, I won't tire out so quickly and early in the round. Wrestling has also helped me mentally by giving me more confidence through my moves and my abilities to accomplish what I set my mind too.

This season I have also gotten much stronger. This is from the hundreds of sit ups and push ups done during practice and also through the strength built up and acquired in all the moves to throw others down to the mat. This is drilled everyday throughout the week to become muscle memory. My workout weights have gotten large, especially my dead-lift and my bench. I also look more muscular and better conditioned which I am, which is a good plus.

Some moves I have gotten better at throughout the season are sprawling, shooting doubles, most of the high-c moves, and a ghost fireman, all of which I enjoy. I have gotten much better this season and I plan on practicing this sport which I enjoy so much over the off-season.
