What does it take to be a good football player?

To be a good football player you need to be a dedicated player, weightlifter, runner, teammate, student, and friend. More specifically relating to the skill related components of fitness, you need to have a great reaction time to get off the ball quickly, you need to be coordinated to make tackles and catch the ball, you need to have speed and be fast to get to the ball or make the tackle, and you need to be powerful to break a block or drive your opponent off the ball for the game winning play. For the health related components of fitness, you need to have the muscular strength and endurance to consistently make plays when you are exhausted and have the same strength and power and not let off the pressure on the other team and you need to have the cardio respiratory fitness to make the game saving tackle after running 40 yards. You also need to be able to trust yourself and know you and your teammates strength, weaknesses, and what you can accomplish as a team. To be a good football player you need to be aggressive, really want the ball or tackle, you need to be fast and able to make plays with speed you didn't know you had and you need to have the power to accomplish your goals in a play. You also need to be smart. Football players are stereotyped as shallow minded people but in football you need to be able to read the offense to tell where the ball is going to get to it, remember plays and hole numbers, and take smart angles to get to the ball quickly.

What does it take to be a good wrestler?

To be a good wrestler you need to be strong, fast, and have a lot of stamina. More specifically you need to have cardio respiratory fitness to not run out of gas and breath during a match, you need to have muscular strength and muscular endurance to complete your moves and finish them correctly to win. You also need flexibility for the weird positions you can end up in during a scramble on the mat and the agility to move around your opponent. A very important skill related component is balance, you have to keep your hips square to your opponent and the mat below you so that you are not thrown to your back resulting in a pin. Especially in a live match, reaction time is important to be able to react to the other wrestler's move and do the counter to it. An example of this is if you are on the mat and someone throws a half nelson your neck in an attempt to flip you over, you need to look away from the hand and peel it off of your neck. Depending on how fast you can do this can decide the match.
