Chemical Dominoes
Intro:
For this project my group and I were instructed to make a board game consisting of the different kinds of chemical reactions we learned about. My group decided to make a ¨Zoo Break¨ board game. The game was set up very similar to Candy Land but throughout the game there were a series of chemical reaction that you have to trigger in order to move on. I really liked that this project allowed us the freedom to experiment chemical reactions on our own in order to pick the ones we like.
Terms:
Double Displacement Reaction: A reaction in which the positive and negative ions of two ionic compounds exchange places to form two new compounds.
Single Replacement Reaction: A reaction in which one element is substituted for another element in a compound.
Precipitate: In aqueous solution, precipitation is the process of transforming a dissolved substance into an insoluble solid from a super-saturated solution. The solid formed is called the precipitate.
Chemical Reaction: A process that involves rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of a substance, as opposed to a change in physical form or a nuclear reaction.
Product: In chemistry, a product is a substance that is formed as the result of a chemical reaction.
Decomposition Reaction: The process or effect of simplifying a single chemical entity into two or more fragments
Synthesis Reaction: the artificial execution of chemical reactions to obtain one or several products.
Solubility: The degree to which a substance dissolves in a solvent to make a solution. Solubility of one fluid in another may be complete or partial.
Aqueous: An aqueous solution is any solution in which water (H2O) is the solvent. In a chemical equation, the symbol (aq) follows a species name to indicate that it is in aqueous solution.
