At November 14th, we had a chance to visit UST Miguel de Benavides Library. They show us the procedure of restoration and digitalization of the book. It gives us insight about how long the process even the technology already advanced. They also show us the collection and the procedures of borrowing book. In this library, there is the replica of first printed book that created on 1573.

The procedure of book restoration:
Getting the book characteristics. It's needed as a base of book restoration. It include the thickness, the size, the type of paper, and others characteristics.
Clean the book with washing it. It helps to remove the acid that already stick on the books.
Put the book at the machine.
Give the book a metal cellulose paste.
Copying the binding technique of the book.

Book digitalization done through advanced scan process. One person scanning the book page on the scanning machine manually one by one. After completed, the result can be view by Thomasian only to avoid copyright infringement.
