This course introduces to students the fundamental of applied mechanics primarily in the basic design analysis for simple building structures. It covers the principles of moment, centre of gravity, drawing shear force and bending moment diagrams, stress and strain relationship, and deflection in beams. The content of the syllabus is tailor suit for the students of Construction Management.Meanwhile, structure also know as anything that is constructed or built from different interrelated parts with a fixed location on the ground. The term structure can also be used to refer to any body of connected parts that is designed to bear loads, even if it is not intended to be occupied by people.
Upon completion, students are able to:
1. Evaluate structural principal for stress and strain, shear force and bending moment diagram, centre of gravity and properties of section.
2. Compute stress and strain relationship of building materials, principal of moment, shear force, and bending moment, centre of gravity, properties of section and principal of parallel axis.
3. Demonstrate good ethics in basic design analysis for simple building structures.
We can understand what is structure, types of structure and to understand the concept of Stress, Strain and Elasticity. Able to calculate Stress, Strain and Modulus Elasticity and its relationship using formula and we will do many calculation in this courses. We also can define the types of forces acting on structure, recognize of lever system and calculate the moment of equilibrium. For your information,we will learn many topics for this courses during this semester and every topics getting harder to learn. So,please prepare yourself.
