Tips on taking notes in Google Docs
How to use Tab + sub tabs group
There is usually already a tab in the google docs when you open a new doc.
So you should see to your left there would be a " + " sign click on it and there you have it a new tab!
Next, to add a subtab, click the three dots on the tab. From the menu, select “+ Add subtab.” You can also rename the tab, move it under another tab, change the order of tabs, and access additional customization options.
Next, a useful tip when writing notes for chemistry, physics, or math is to use the Equations and Symbols features in Google Docs to keep your work organized.
Using the Equation Tool
Go to the Insert tab at the top of Google Docs (usually the fourth option).
Scroll down and hover over to symbols.
Click "Equation"
A small equation text box will appear where you can type formulas.
Google Docs supports simple shortcuts:
Type x ^ 2 → it automatically becomes x²
Type x _ 2 → it becomes a subscript (x₂) (there are many more!)
Once the equation box is active, you will also see equation tools appear at the top of the document.
These tools allow you to add fractions, roots, integrals, and many other mathematical expressions.
Once you are done writing one equation you can go to the next like and add another one by simply clicking the New equation button.
Using the Symbols Tool
Go to Insert → Special characters.
A panel will appear on the right side of your document.
From there you can:
Search for a symbol by typing its name
Draw the symbol if you do not know its name
Google Docs will then show matching symbols that you can click to insert.
