How to Submit an Assignment in Brightspace

1) Navigate to the assignment

Method 1

In the Work to Do panel, there should be a list of links to all the assignments due within the next week (circled in purple in the screenshot).

You can click the links to go directly to the assignment submission page.


Method 2

In your Brightspace course page, in the course navigation section, go to the Assignments page (circled in red). If it is not there, it may be hidden in the overflow. You can click the arrow (circled in blue) to reveal it.

If it is not in the top row or the overflow section, your teacher may have it disabled.


Once on the Assignments page, click on the name of the assignment you want to submit (circled in green). This will take you to the submission page.

2) Attach files & submit

In the assignment submission page, you can add attachments.


You can use the Add a File button (circled in purple) to open the menu to attach files.

In the Add File Menu, you can choose to attach files from My Computer (circled in green) or from Google Drive (circled in blue) if you have linked your account to Brightspace.

Note: If you attach a Google Drive file, it will be converted to an equivalent Microsoft Office format. It does not always convert correctly! If it indeed messes up any formatting or the like, you can try downloading the file as a PDF and submitting the PDF instead.

After attaching your files, they will appear below the attachment buttons. You can click the X (circled in orange) to remove them.

If you scroll down further, you can also add comments to your teacher to go with the submission.


Finally, click the Submit button (circled in red) to submit the assignment.

You should get a Brightspace email if your assignment was submitted successfully.
