NCFE in Health and Fitness
We want to ensure we provide students with many different experiences within a diverse and engaging curriculum that challenges them both physically and academically. This outstanding qualification is aimed for students that wish to pursue a career in sport, which could be as a performer, a coach, PE teacher, sports journalism, physiotherapy or personal trainer, or for those that simply have an enthusiasm for sport and wish to take their interest and understanding to a deeper level.

What will the learner study as part of this qualification?
This qualification shows learners how to:
• understand and identify the main body systems and their functions
• understand the Principles of Training and FITT
• explore how physical activities effect the body in the short- and long-term
• understand how relevant fitness tests can be used for specific health and skill components of fitness
• understand different lifestyle analysis tools and how to apply them
• create a health and fitness programme.
How will the learner be assessed?
Written examination: 40% of the technical award.
80 marks
1 hour 30 minutes
A mixture of multiple-choice, short answer and extended response questions.
The written examination will assess the learner’s knowledge and understanding of content from Unit 1, objectives AO1, AO2 and AO3.
Coursework: 60% of the technical award.
The completion time for this internal synoptic project is 21 hours of supervised time.
The synoptic project will target assessment objectives AO1, AO2, AO3, AO4 and AO5.
