Jesus Clears the Temple

Judas Betrays Jesus

The Chrism Mass

The Chrism Mass takes place during Holy Week. This Mass is important for our faith community as the oils used in many of Catholic traditions - Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, Anointing of the Sick - are blessed during this Mass and then distributed to all diocesan churches.

View the video to learn more about the Chrism Mass and use the link below to read more about each Holy Oil.

The three Holy Oils

Stand Up. Speak Up. Show Love.

Judas and others made choices that broke their relationship with God. They committed sin. Having faith in God means that He is with you at all times, even when it might be hard to make the right choice. Consider how you can call upon God to be with you as you face decisions in life.

  1. Journal: Have you ever found yourself in the position of standing up for something you believe in, even when others around you have stayed silent? How did you find the courage to speak up?

  2. Find an uplifting quote or scripture passage and design a poster to put in a window at home.

  3. Write out the Act of Love prayer, then write a personal note to a parent, grandparent, or sibling sharing something you notice they have said or done that you see as an example of God’s love.

Academic Excellence

Think back on your academic journey this school year - where have you had the greatest successes? In what area have you set a goal for improvement? Don't forget to identify the growth you will experience through distance learning - we are so proud of the hard work and dedication students are showing during this time.

Cleaning Hearts and House

Prepare your house to welcome Jesus this Easter by going through your home and cleaning. Find items to donate such as clothing, toys, or things you don't use anymore. These items can be organized and placed in bags that are ready to donate once the charities are reopened and you are able to deliver them.

Some suggestions to donate items include:

A Note in the Pocket - Children's clothing: www.noteinthepocket.org

Dorcas Ministries - Clothing, books, toys: www.Dorcascary.org

Durham Rescue Mission-Clothing, toys, books, household items: www.durhamrescuemission.org

Gathering Loose Change

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was stranger and you made me welcome." Matthew 25:35

Go on a scavenger hunt with your family and collect all of the loose change you find in your house and cars. Count all of the coins and consider adding some of your own allowance or earned money to make a donation in that same amount to a local charity that is providing food for those who are hungry. You can choose any charity you would like to donate to but the following are currently providing meals in the local community:

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle www.foodshuttle.org/donate

Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC: www.foodbankcenc.org

Western Wake Crisis Ministry: www.wwcm.org

Reflection Time

God provided us with a gift - the gift of free will. Part of that gift is to be able to discern when and how to do the right thing. Judas and the merchants in the temple took that gift for granted, and continued to do what pleased them instead of what pleased the Lord.

(1) How are the actions of Judas and the people in the temple the same? (2) How does knowing God loves you through all your ups and downs help you to make the right decision in honor of Him?
