Stations of the Cross

As older students, we can begin to make and understand connections between the events of Holy Week and our own lives. Jesus came to be one of us, to share in our humanity so that we may come to know Him better.

We encourage you to pray the Stations of the Cross as a family. If you have younger siblings, consider finding time on your own or with your parents to go through this set of stations. We pray that you will come to see the gift Jesus gave you through His sacrifice and how it can guide you through your own life and faith journey.

The Seven Last Words

As Jesus hung on the cross, He spoke seven last words. These words hold great meaning to us as we embrace what it means to be a Catholic and better appreciate His sacrifice for us. The following links connect to a devotional prayer from Loyola Press which will lead you through this meditation.

Praying Stations of the Cross as a Family

Stations of the Cross is a traditional Catholic devotion that reminds us of the Passion of Jesus Christ, the last day of His life.

Together as a faith community and family, we pray the Stations as a reminder of the great love God the father and Jesus, His son showed us. Through Him, we are able to love one another. (We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19)

Because we cannot gather as a larger faith family, consider traveling through the stations as you would in the church. Make posters or signs for each station and place them around your home or outside.

As you pray, travel to each station as a reminder of the journey Jesus took to give you the gift of eternal life.

Reflection Time

The meditations for Christ's Seven Last Words are a powerful reminder that in His last moments of life, Jesus was thinking of others and praying to our Heavenly Father. Which of Christ's Last Words spoke to you the most? How will you show the same love to others this Easter?
