Picking Up Your Cross

What does it mean to "carry your cross"? How can we best appreciate the gift of life we received from Jesus Christ's sacrifice? Fr. Mike Schmitz helps us to understand this common phrase and its role in our faith journey.

Stations of the Cross

As a family, pray Stations of the Cross together. If you would like to have a more reflective stations experience, use this presentation of Stations of the Cross for Our Times, which will guide you through a more meaningful devotion.

The Seven Last Words

As Jesus hung on the cross, He spoke seven last words. These words hold great meaning to us as we embrace what it means to be a Catholic and better appreciate His sacrifice for us. The following links connect to a devotional prayer from Loyola Press which will lead you through this meditation.

Praying Stations of the Cross as a Family

Stations of the Cross is a traditional Catholic devotion that reminds us of the Passion of Jesus Christ, the last day of His life.

Together as a faith community and family, we pray the Stations as a reminder of the great love God the father and Jesus, His son showed us. Through Him, we are able to love one another. (We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19)

Because we cannot gather as a larger faith family, consider traveling through the stations as you would in the church. Make posters or signs for each station and place them around your home or outside.

As you pray, travel to each station as a reminder of the journey Jesus took to give you the gift of eternal life.
