Last Edition of the Viking Voice for this school year.

A Message from Administration

Happy (almost) Summer!

This is such a busy time of year for everyone, and while we are enjoying the beautiful weather and spring/summer sports, we have been very busy at school wrapping up the 2023-2024 school year and preparing for the 2024-2025 school year.

This school year has been such a great one!  While we stuck with many wonderful St. Albert traditions like our Walkathon, Trunk or Treat, the Angel Program, Stations of the Cross, Farmer Steve, Talent Show and Pep Rallies, we had a lot of fun adding some new things to our calendar like Jonathan Chiaramonte’s visit, (our counselors brought back) Red Ribbon Week and The Heart Challenge, Solar Eclipse.  We hosted both the Elementary and Middle School Governor’s Cups, and qualified for the Blue Ribbon Award.  It has been a year full of achievements, fun, and memories made.

As we close the 2023-2024 school year, we will be saying “see you later” (not goodbye) to several of our faculty and staff:  Candy Sells (K assistant), Vince Muchow (PE teacher), Lindsey Choi (Library/Media Specialist), Tyra Gallagher (7th and 8th grade science teacher), and Lucy Geerer(7th grade English/Language Arts/Literature teacher).  We wish all of them the very best in their new endeavors, we are excited to hear where their paths lead them, and we thank them for touching all of our lives.

We have so much to look forward to in the 2024-2025 school year.  We are busy hiring new faculty and staff, adopting and ordering new text books, and revamping and adding new programs.  You can watch for an email from me the first week of July with more specifics.

I wish all of you and your families a summer full of contentment and happiness.  Soak in all of God’s goodness.  I look forward to seeing you throughout the community and look forward to seeing you again in August.  Happy Summer!

Please note that grades 4, 5, and 6 use the Math Standards-Based workbook during the school year. All other classes use the regular math workbook. Also, please read the policy below that is found in the SAAM handbook regarding quitting a team...

Quitting a Team

When an athlete quits a team, it leaves the team short on players and affects the morale of the team. It is not fair to the remaining team members and coaches. In an effort to dissuade quitting, any athlete that quits a team from the time team rosters are posted after tryouts, or before the 2nd practice for non-tryout sports to the end of the season will receive a suspension of eligibility and will not be allowed to participate in any sport within the next two (2) seasons (see pages 8-9) and will not be eligible to participate in the same sport the following year.

The suspension of eligibility can be appealed by the athlete’s parent(s)/guardian(s) with the SAAM Executive Committee. The parent(s)/guardian(s) must contact the SAAM Grievance Chair (see contact list on website) and request an appeal. The SAAM Committee will vote to uphold the suspension or restore eligibility.

This policy does not apply to Kindergarten, 1st grade or 2nd grade sports.

St. Albert Men's Fellowship- Next Week

Looking for brotherhood and a strong sense of community? The St. Albert Men's Fellowship is just for you! The idea for the fellowship came about in 2022, when several parishioners began to get together informally to share ideas, opportunities and to sharpen one another in different ways. Over the years, the group has grown, and we're excited to formalize our gatherings at St. Albert, inviting all our parish brothers to come meet other like-minded men interested in forming strong friendships, deepening their faith, and participating in service.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." Proverbs 17:17.

Join the Fellowship on Thursday, May 30th, 7:30pm in the Cafeteria for pizza and drinks! The group will be brainstorming ideas for future social gatherings and ways to get involved in parish life.

If interested in attending, please click this link to fill out the form and tell us more about yourself. If you have any questions, please contact Nick Norcia at NLNorcia@gmail.com
