Dear St. Albert the Great Families,
My name is Julie Kane, and I am thrilled to start my new role as school counselor at St. Albert the Great. I joined the parish over 25 years ago, and this community has always held a special place in my heart. It is a privilege to be here to work with the students, their families and the dedicated staff who all work together to ensure that social-emotional and academic needs are being met.
I am from Joliet, Illinois and attended Catholic schools through college. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska before obtaining my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I began my career as a school social worker in Aurora, Illinois and worked there for 4 years before moving to Louisville. I then spent several years with Seven Counties Services as a therapist and clinical supervisor in the school based program which served JCPS schools. I also spent time working as a Family Involvement Liaison for JCPS in the Early Childhood/Head Start program.
After years as a stay at home mom, I shifted gears and began work as a Social Worker and Activities Director at Nazareth Home, a senior health care and rehabilitation facility. I loved my many years with the elderly, but felt called back to assist in the development of our younger generation as they navigate through the challenges they may be faced with.
I have 2 children, Connor and Grace, who attended St. Albert and the dePaul School. Connor is 26 and working full time while Grace is a senior at the University of Dayton.
I am so grateful for their experience with the school, PREP classes, and sports here and believe that being part of this community has been a true blessing for our family.
I look forward to partnering with you and your children and helping to make this a successful school year for all students. Please feel free to contact me at jkane@stalbert.org with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Julie Kane
School Counselor
Dear St. Albert Families,
I look forward to you being able to meet our new counselors as I know they are going to be wonderful additions to our St Albert family.
A huge thank you to Lori Duvall and Tori Klamo who have stepped in as temporary counselors to help us get started with our school year. I also want to thank our whole faculty and staff who have put their “counselor hats” on during these first few weeks of school. I am so thankful to be a part of a community that is able to pull together and help each other.
Have a great rest of your week, and welcome to Loren and Julie!

Our Beach Volleyball Tournament fundraiser will be on September 30, 2023. It will be a day of fun at J-town Beach! Please find the team registration link and the Spirit Wear pre-order form. All shirt orders must be submitted by September 1st!! There will be two divisions of play, "Competitive" and “Family Fun". Below you will find information on each division. The Competitive Division: Must be 9th Grade or older. This is for teams of people who would fall into the C, B, or A category of play. This is a double-elimination tournament. TEAMS SIGNED UP FOR THIS DIVISION MUST BE CO-ED. The Family Fun Division: For 12 years old and up. This is for kids and people who are just looking for fun and to have a great time. This is a double-elimination tournament. Please note some kids' teams might not be co-ed. ADULT TEAMS MUST BE CO-ED.
