Dear Parents,
Teacher Appreciation week is celebrated nationally this week. It is a great opportunity to show gratitude and respect for our educators who are committed to serving all students and helping them reach their full potential. It is a time to acknowledge the tireless efforts of our teachers here at St. Albert the Great and the impact they make on the lives of our students. But if you are like me, I believe it should be celebrated every day.
Teaching is more than just imparting knowledge, it’s about inspiring and motivating students every day. Teachers play a crucial role in the development of a student’s cognitive, emotional and social abilities, and they are responsible for nurturing a lifelong love of learning.
There are many reasons why teachers should be celebrated and appreciated. Here are just a few:
Teachers do what they do from the heart. We all are aware that teaching is not a high-paying profession. It is a calling, and it comes from the heart.
Teachers give one of the most important gifts of all to their students: the gift of learning and the gift of thinking for themselves.
Teachers have a far-reaching influence on society. It is often said that other than parents or guardians, no other person can have a more profound influence on an individual than a teacher. Students are deeply affected by a teacher’s character, compassion, competence, and commitment.
Teachers have been expected to take on much more than they ever imagined. Between Covid and remote learning, the growing use and exposure to social media, and the increase in depression and anxiety among school-aged kids, teachers are faced with much more than teaching the subjects they were trained to teach.
I’m sure each of us can look back to our elementary years and fondly remember a teacher or two who left a lasting impression on us. As a parent, I’ve always felt strongly that a teacher’s role in a child’s life can be monumental in their growth as a student and as a human being. On the days when I felt my children were struggling, I was simply appreciative of the teachers that would greet them with a smile and offer words of encouragement. As a counselor at St. Albert for the past year, I am inspired by the great things that I witness our teachers doing every day and am so grateful to walk alongside these heroes who are truly doing God’s work.
So, thank you, St. Albert the Great teachers, for all that you do for your students. I know it is not an easy job, but it is one of the most important ones there are.
Prayer for Catholic Teachers
Heavenly Father, thank you for calling and choosing our teachers to do Your work. Thank you for their commitment, compassion and patience. May they continue to teach the students according to Your word and the teachings of Your Church. May they be an example of an authentic Christian life. Use them as an instrument to bring our students closer to you.
Through Christ Our Lord.
Amen

Prepare your child with academic success for the next school year with Summer Solutions workbooks. Purchase the grade your child is in currently.
Please note that grades 4, 5, and 6 use the Math Standards-Based workbook during the school year. All other classes use the regular math workbook. Standards-based workbooks tend to be text-heavy and may require more explanation. If you want your child to work independently, you might want to consider the original version over the standards-based. Click the link above to order.

Also, please read the policy below that is found in the SAAM handbook regarding quitting a team...
When an athlete quits a team, it leaves the team short on players and affects the morale of the team. It is not fair to the remaining team members and coaches. In an effort to dissuade quitting, any athlete that quits a team from the time team rosters are posted after tryouts, or before the 2nd practice for non-tryout sports to the end of the season will receive a suspension of eligibility and will not be allowed to participate in any sport within the next two (2) seasons (see pages 8-9) and will not be eligible to participate in the same sport the following year.
The suspension of eligibility can be appealed by the athlete’s parent(s)/guardian(s) with the SAAM Executive Committee. The parent(s)/guardian(s) must contact the SAAM Grievance Chair (see contact list on website) and request an appeal. The SAAM Committee will vote to uphold the suspension or restore eligibility.
This policy does not apply to Kindergarten, 1st grade or 2nd grade sports.
Please read the Parish Post to stay up to date with events and opportunities.
The St Albert Summer Picnic will be held the weekend of June 21st & 22nd.
