“Take it all in… it’s as big as it seems. Count all your blessings. Remember your dreams.” ~ Jimmy Buffett
I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. As we are saddened by the death of Jimmy Buffett, we have so many wonderful quotes to remember him by. His quote above hits me the hardest.
“Take it all in and count your blessings”
As I have been a student, a teacher, an administrator, and most importantly a parent, you will hear me say over and over, “Enjoy every moment”. By unpopular opinion, I loved being a student: the organization, the discovery and learning, and of course the social aspect. I loved being a teacher: watching students explore and find their passion, guiding them, and encouraging them…such an awesome profession. And now an administrator: part of the “big picture”. Most importantly, I have been a parent to two amazing girls. When I look back on this very important role, I LOVE and have loved every minute of it. I loved the time in the car (even carpool), I loved our SpaghettiO lunches/dinners, I loved coaching their sports teams, I loved the high school football games and sleep-overs, I loved college weekend visits, and now, I love watching them navigate adulthood.
If there is anything I can wish and pray for each one of you (parents), it’s to “take it all in”, and “count all your blessings”. It’s not easy, it’s not perfect, and it may not be what you thought it would be, but Jimmy Buffett had it right! “Take it all in…it’s as big as it seems. Count all your blessings. Remember your dreams.”
