We are going to try and add some creative ideas for learning.
Here is a chocolate cake made by our resident chef, Mrs Nelson.
Yes this needs a device to watch, but also gets away from normal screen time
Learning ideas for this activity:
Ask the student to write down the recipe ( Focus on structure: Aim, ingredients, method)
Encourage them to measure the items (Ok so little messy- but learning is)
If they can measure easily, take the 1 cup away and give them 1/4 cup only to make the amounts required
Get them to make it and record their explanation
Museums Victoria have created some wonderful learning opportunities. Although they still need a device, they are interactive and self paced and can just allow your imagine to be inspired. This video explains the concept: https://youtu.be/eZ962eiLqYU The full link can be found at: https://museumsvictoria.com.au/museum-at-home/
Week two of Cooking with Mrs Nelson: You can learn to make muffins. A good opportunity to explore some science and observe he changing textures. Remember the writing and mathematics opportunities here!
Similar to the Museums at home, finds out all about the animals at the zoos in Victoria. There is a live stream of all the different animals available and great educational resources. This could present some excellent Art, Design or Science activities.

Mrs Tharle, our art talented teacher, is very passionate about the planet. She decided to use some of her time to join a group of like-minded educators around the world to help deliver meaningful lessons to educate students about the world around them. The group is called Earth Echo International. They have released some science lessons for students to complete at home during the lockdown. Here is a lesson where students can complete an experiment with items that may be lying around the house. The lesson can be viewed by clicking on the link Earth Echo Science: Don't Be Salty
