Stile Update 7/5
The Stile platform has been back to being very reliable this week. We thank the team at Stile for their work.
This Introduction to Stile was partly filmed at our school. Since this time, it has become used in most Secondary schools as their platform for Science learning. Founded by one of Australia's leading scientists, Alan Finkel, this Melbourne based company stores all work securely on servers in Australia. For us at St. Agatha's, it has meant that we don't need to adjust a lot in Year Four to Year Six to provide the best possible Remote Learning experience.
All students have their own logins, and we can personalise work to the platform. The learning should be a mix of familiar and new content. Therefore, if your children can't do a task, that probably is a good thing, as we can help from there. Within Stile, students can email their teachers, interact with classmates and complete polls and quizzes so that we can track their learning. It is for this reason we want the students, not their parents, to do the learning.
An important note, not every piece of work will have a grade marked next to it. That doesn't mean we haven't seen it! We have an analytics section that allows us to see how each student is going, we then know who we need to make contact with, adjust our lessons and plan for misconceptions we are seeing within the group. The feedback, will be to students, but also will be often within the next few lessons.
A video below explains a bit more of how teachers use Stile.
Using auto narration can allow our students to access all learning content and assist in becoming independent learners. We still will continue to work on the decoding and reading skills and this tool is not a replacement of learning reading skills.
Stile is a Melbourne based company. There Privacy policy and details of where the data is stored can be found at: https://stileeducation.com/privacy
The students work remains the property of the student in the years to come. The lessons remain the property of the school. This site allows us to create social learning opportunities, a secure place to share work and ability to create interactive lessons with very little tech skills.
Stile has a support team, tat can be reached by clicking support. They always seek permission to access any of your work or our lessons. Click Support at on the top toolbar if any work ever went 'missing'. (It saves every minute so there is no way students can loose work!)
